MSU does not have a pre-medical committee so students must have at least 3 letters from faculty from whom they took a class or did research under.
Coursework required for most medical colleges (and strongly suggested by our office)
2 semesters of General Chemistry with labs (inorganic chemistry) (8h)
2 semesters of Organic chemistry with labs (8h)
2 semesters of Biology (Biology I and II)
2 semesters of either General Physics (trig-based) or Physics (Cal-based)
Note: some medical colleges require 8 hours of physics, so a 3rd semester of either General physics III or Physics III is required; see pre-medical advisor to determine if the medical school you plan on applying to requires 8 hours.
Additional requirements that make for a stronger applicant
Physician Shadowing
40 hours minimum but 60-100 hours is competitive
